MONDAY, June 2 9:30 a.m., Council Briefing - Come hear about Portland, Oregon's multi-family housing design competition. Also Councilmembers will be briefed on regional affairs and preview the coming week.
2:00 p.m., Full Council - Will the Council support a plan for long-term flood control in Madison Valley, including two million gallons of water storage in the Washington Park Arboretum and a 1.8 million-gallon water tank in the 100 block of 30th Ave. East? Should the Council designate Montlake's Seattle Yacht Club a historic landmark? The Council will take action on these and other agenda items as well as taking public testimony on the State Auditors' report on open records practices at 30 government entities including the City of Seattle.
5:00 p.m., Forum on Courtyard Housing in Portland, Oregon - Seattle City Hall, 600 Fourth Avenue, Bertha Knight Landes Room, 1st Floor - Come and learn about Portland's approach to design, quality, and character for new multifamily housing in existing neighborhoods with Councilmember Sally J. Clark and staff from the City of Portland.
7:00 p.m., Parks Levy Citizens Advisory Committee - Alki Community Center
5817 S.W. Stevens St. -This is the fourth of four community meetings being held by the citizen's committee appointed by the Seattle City Council to advise the Council on whether to place a parks levy on the fall 2008 ballot.
TUESDAY, June 3
9:00 a.m.,Transportation Committee - Note Special Time - What's going on with Rapid Ride, Metro's bus rapid transit between West Seattle and downtown? The Committee will be briefed by Seattle Department of Transportation Director Grace Crunican and Metro's General Manager Kevin Desmond. Also will the Committee support the proposed changes to the noise ordinance to address major construction projects?
10:30 a.m., Special Committee on Pedestrian Safety- Come and hear the latest on speed vans in school zones, the pedestrian master plan, the Council’s pedestrian safety education and enforcement campaign, and more.
2:00 p.m., Public Safety, Human Services, and Education Committee - The Office of Professional Accountability reports on citizen complaints of alleged police misconduct and its mediation efforts. Also Police Chief Gil Kerlikowske will brief the Committee, the costs and benefits of youth crime prevention will be discussed, and more.
WEDNESDAY, June 4
2:00 p.m., Energy and Technology Committee - Will the Committee support City Light's wholesale energy risk management policy? What's the latest on the reconfirmation of City Light Superintendent Jorge Carrasco? The Committee will also conduct other business.
5:00 p.m., Parks and Seattle Center Committee - Special Meeting - Public Hearing -
The Committee will take public testimony on the proposed Seattle Center Master Plan.
THURSDAY, June 5
9:30 a.m., Finance and Budget Committee - How will the Committee respond to the proposal to increase taxi licenses from 667 to 1000; require new cabs to get 30 mpg; and increase the flat rate from the airport to downtown from $28 to $30? The Committee will also conduct other business.

10:00 a.m., Forum: "Town Homes - Can the Patient be Saved?" - Capitol Hill Arts Center — 1621 12th Avenue - Councilmember Sally J. Clark hosts a forum on encouraging good design of new town homes. A panel of developers, neighborhoods activists, architects and planners will present their ideas on how to promote good design. Come be a part of this dialogue and join the team trying to save town homes from the wounds of unfortunate regulation and bad design.
